Chapora Beach – Goa

Located in North Goa at a distance of 10 km from Mapusa is a scenic and pristine beach called “Chapora Beach”. Situated in close proximity to this beach is the Chapora Fort as well as a fishing jetty mainly used by trawlers. It is also renowned for its scenic beauty and is popular for fishing. In addition, a renowned organic fruit juice centre called “Ganesh” is located in close proximity to this beautiful beach.

  1. By train:

The closest major railway stations to Chapora are located in Margao on the Southern Railway line and Vasco on the Konkan Railway line. Both these stations are well connected to major cities in the country.

  1. By road:

The ideal way to travel to Chapora via road is from Mapusalocated at a distance of 10 km. There three routes available from Mapusa to this beach. They are as follows 

  1. Via Duler-Marna-Siolim Road

This route includes BalakrishnaBhonsaleMarg, Chapora Main Street, Chapora Fort Road, and finally Chapora Beach.

      2. Via Duler-Marna-Siolim Road and Aguada-Siolim Road

This route includes Duler-Marna-Siolim Road, AguadaSiolim Road, CoutinhoVaddo, Chhapora Fort Road, and finally Chapora Beach.

      3. Via Mapusa-Anjuna- Chapora

This route includes Duler-Marna-Siolim, Ghateshwar Nagar, CoutinhoVaddo, Chapora Fort Road, and finally theChapora Beach.

  1. By air:

The nearest airport to this beach is located in Dabolim. The Dabolim Airport is well connected to major cities in the country.

Climate and the best time to visit Chapora Beach

The climate at this picturesque beach is extremely hot during the summer which begins in March and ends in May with an average temperature of 35 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoons which begins in June and ends in September is heavy. The winter which arrives in December and ends in February on the other hand is pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degree Celsius to a minimum of 21 degree Celsius. So the best time to visit this beach is during the winter from December to February.

Things to do at Chapora Beach

Apart from its pristine and picturesque surroundings, this beach also provides for water activities such as surfing and a hippy/party lifestyle. This beach is also popular for the Chapora Fort which was built by the Portuguese. This fort is renowned for providing picturesque view of the rising and the setting sun. In addition, it was at this very fort that a scene from the Bollywood blockbuster DilChahtaHai starring superstar Aamir Khan was shot. Furthermore, a number of shacks/restaurants serving typical “Goan” style seafood are available on this beach. A popular juice centre called Ganesh that serves organic fruit juices is also located in close proximity to this beach.
