Talpona Beach – Goa

A less crowded, tranquil, and extremely picturesque beach is located in Goa known as Talpona Beach. Furthermore, it is situated in the Canconataluka in South Goa at the spot where the River Talpona converges with the Arabian Sea. Since this beach is located in a secluded spot there are few shacks/restaurants observed over here. It is surrounded by Fir trees and sand dunes. Additionally, the Galgibaga beach, Rajbag Beach, Polem Beach and a newly constructed temple are located in close proximity to this scenic and pristine beach.

  1. By train:

The nearest major railway station located to this beach is in Madgaon at a distance of 43 km. The Madgaon Railway Station is well connected to major cities in the country.

Stay with a local in their home

  1. By Road:

If you intend to drive to Palolem Beach then the ideal starting point would be Margao located at a distance of 39 km. There is one route available from Margao to Palolem. It is as follows                                                               

  1. Via NH-66

This route includes Margao Bypass, Mandopa Road, MDR49 before finally reaching Palolem Beach.

  1. By air:

The closest airport to this beautiful beach is located in Dabolim. The Dabolim Airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well as major international destinations.

Climate and the best time to visit Talpona Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is “hot and humid” with the average temperature during this period being 35 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in September is heavy. The winter on the other hand which begins in December and ends in February is pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degree Celsius to a minimum of 21 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to enjoy the secluded and pristine beach is from December to February.

Things/activities to do

There are a few thing/activities to do found around this beach worth trying. They are as follows

  1. Galgibaga Beach:

Galgibaga is a beautiful beach located in close proximity to the Talpona Beach. This beach like Agonda and Morjim is popular for being a “Turtle Beach” where a program to save the Olive Turtle species has been implemented by the state government. In addition, this beach is surrounded by beautiful dense pine trees. 

      2. Rajbag Beach:

The Rajbag Beach located in Palolem is situated in close proximity to the Talpona beach. Furthermore, it is a pristine beach and since is situated in secluded spot, and hence known for its tranquillity. In addition, this beach is generally safe for swimming.

      3. Polem Beach:

The Polem Beach is yet another beach located in and around the Talpona beach. It serves an ideal picnic spot. Furthermore, a popular eatery serving good seafood called Kamaxi run by a local LaxamanRaikar is located in close proximity to this beach.
