Consisting of a number of “Chinese fishing nets” is the scenic Fort Kochi Beach located in the state of Kerala. This picturesque beach is situated in the city of Kochi. It also provides for its absolute scenic natural beauty. In addition, it is on this beach that the popular Kochi Festival is held at. Furthermore, a historic fort is also located in close proximity to this beautiful beach.

  1. By train: 

The nearest major railway station to this beach is located in Ernakulum. The Ernakulum Railway Station is well connected to major cities in the country.

Stay with a local in their home

  1. By water:

The ideal i.e. faster way to reach this beach is via the use of ferry service. There are two ferry stations located in Ernakulumi.e. major boat jetty located at a distance 1 km from the railway station.

  1. By air:

The closest airport to this beach is located in Kochi. The Kochi International Airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well as international destination.

Climate and the best time to visit Fort Kochi Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in June is “dry and humid” with the mercury rising to a maximum of about 37 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in July and ends in September is “heavy”. The winter season which begins in October and ends in February is “extremely pleasant” with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 33 degree Celsius to a minimum of 17 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is from October to February.

There are a number of things/activities found on this beach worth exploring. They are as follows

  1. Boat Rides:

There are a number of boat ride services (via backwaters) available from this beach to a number of mid and small sized islands located in close proximity.

      2. Recreational/leisure activities:

The exquisite scenic beauty and pristine environment of this beach makes it ideal for recreational activities such as beach walk, fishing, sunbathing, dolphin viewing, and swimming.

      3. Cultural centres:

There are a few cultural centres such as Sea India Foundation, The Cochin Cultural Centre, and Art Kerala located in close proximity to this beach that provide for Kathakali performances. These centres are ideal especially for those tourists passionate about culture.

      4. Festival Celebrations:

Festivals such as Onam, Christmas, Easter etc are celebrated on a grand scale at this beach and, hence ideal for those who want to make the most of the festive season.
