Located in close proximity to a creek in a village called Gorai is the picturesque Gorai Beach. This scenic beach is situated in the North-western part of the island called Salette in Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra. Considered to be one of the cleanest beaches in the city, it is surrounded by beautiful palm trees. In addition, in close proximity to this beach is the “Global Vipassana Pagoda” considered to be the world’s tallest pillar-less dome.

How to reach the Gorai Beach

  1. By train:

The closest major railway station to this beach is located in Borivali/Malad. From Borivali/Malad Station there are bus and auto services available to Marve Beach. In addition, from Marve Beach ferry services to Gorai are available.

Stay with a local in their home

  1. By road:

If you intend to drive to this beach then the ideal starting points would be Pune, Thane, Kalyan, and Navi Mumbai.

  1. Via Pune:

There is one route from Pune to this beach, and it is via Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai Pune Highway.

      2. Via Thane:

There is one route from Thane to this beach, and it is via NH-48 and Uttan Road.

      3. Via Kalyan:

There are three routes from Kalyan to this beach, and it is via NH-48, via Kalyan-Silliphata Road and NH-48, and via Western Express Highway.

      4. Via Navi Mumbai:

There are three routes from Navi Mumbai to this beach, and it is via NH-48, via NH-48 and NH-48, and via the Western Express Highway.

  1. By air:

The nearest airport is located in the suburb called Ville Parle. The ChhatrapatiShivaji International Airport is connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.

Climate and the best time to visit the Gorai Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely hot with the mercury rising to up to about 40 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in September is “heavy”. The winter season which begins in November and ends in February on the other hand is pleasant with the mercury even dropping to a minimum of a 10 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during the winters from November to February.

Things/activities to do

Water sports such as wind surfing, kite surfing, kayaking, and paddle surfing are provided at this beach by Cliff Watersports. In addition, to renting water sport equipment’s they also provide for training/tutorials in the above-mentioned water sports. Furthermore, in close proximity to this beach lie the famous Essel World Amusement Park and Water Kingdom Water Park that are also worth exploring.
