Saswane Beach is yet another relatively unknown and extremely scenic beach located in Alibaug in Maharashtra. This beautiful beach is situated in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. This beach lies in close proximity to the Mandwa beach. A village comprising of a few bungalows surrounds this beach. It also is known to provide for magnificent views of the “setting sun”. It is situated at a distance of 33.6 km (via Alibag – Revas Rd) from Revdanda Beach.

How to reach Saswane Beach

By train:

The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Pen. The Pen Railway Station is well connected to Mumbai as well as Panvel.

Stay with a local in their home

By road:

If you intend to drive to this beach the ideal starting points would be Pune, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan.

Via Pune: The route from Pune to Saswane is via Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Via Mumbai/Navi Mumbai/Kalyan: There are three routes from Mumbai to Saswane beach, and it is via NH-66, via MH SH 104, and via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway.

By air:

The nearest airports are the Mumbai airport at Vile Parle. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.

By sea:

One of the best way to get to this beach is by sea. There are a number of ferry/catamaran services available from the Gateway of India to this beach. Additionally, these ferry/catamaran services are not available during the monsoon season due to rough sea conditions.

Climate and the best time to visit Saswane Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in July is extremely “hot” with the mercury rising to about 36 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in August and ends in October is extremely heavy. The winter season on the other hand which begins in November and ends in February is extremely pleasant with the mercury dropping to as low as 14 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during the winter season from November to February.

Apart from its scenic beauty which is worth admiring this beach is safe to indulge in physical activity such as swimming. In addition, the magnificent view provided by the “setting sun” at this beach is extremely relaxing and is definite worth experiencing.
