Chandipur Beach – Odisha

Surrounded by casuarina trees and comprising of beautiful sand dunes is an extremely scenic beach called Chandipur Beach in Odisha. This picturesque beach is located in a hamlet called Chandipur in the Baleswar district. This beach is situated at about 16 km from Balasore Railway Station, and is considered to be one among the best beaches in the state. Furthermore, this beach is also supposed to be among the few beaches in the world where the sea water recedes to up to about 5 km during low tide.

How to reach Chandipur Beach

  1. By train:

The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Balasore at a distance of 16 km. The Balasore Railway Station is well connected to major stations that lie on the Kolkata-Chennai railway line.

  1. By road:

If you intend to drive to this beach then the ideal starting points would be Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Patna, and Kolkata.

  1.  Via Bhubaneswar:

There is one route from Bhubaneswar to this beach, and it is via NH-16.

      2. Via Cuttack:

There is one route from Cuttack to this beach, and it is via NH-16.

      3. Via Puri:

There is one route from Puri to this beach, and it is via NH-16.

      4. Via Patna:

There are three routes from Patna to this beach, and they are via NH-19, via NH-19 and NH-18, and via NH-20.

      5. Via Kolkata:

There are two routes from Kolkata to this beach, and they are via NH-16 and via NH-14 and NH-16.

  1. By air:

The nearest airport is located in Kolkata. The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.

Climate and the best time to visit the Chandipur Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely hot with the mercury rising to about 45 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in September is “moderate”. On the other hand the winter season which begins in December and ends in February is extremely pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 18 degree Celsius to a minimum of 10 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is from October to February during winter.

Things/activities to do

Apart from sightseeing and enjoying the pristine and picturesque beauty of this beach while having a stroll there are not many things/activities to do found at this beach. Although, enjoyable boat rides along with the local fishermen is available at this beach. Additionally, a number of restaurants serving typical Odia and Bengali cuisine are located around this beach. These restaurants include Magic Food, Jalpan, Aroma Restaurant, and MAA Tarini Resaturant.
