Located at a distance of 30 km from Alibaug and 135 km from Mumbai city is an extremely scenic beach called “Kashid Beach”. This beautiful beach, known for its white sand, is situated in the town called Kashid in the North Konkan region in Maharashtra. Surrounded by the Arabian Sea this beach comprises of Casuarina groves. In addition, this beach is considered to be one of the best in the Konkan region. Furthermore, since the waves obtained at this beach is unusually high it is considered to be a “surfer’s paradise”.

How to reach the Kashid Beach

  1. By train:

The nearest railway station to Kashid is located in Panvel at a distance of 64 km. The Panvel Railway Station is well connected to major railway stations in the country such as New Delhi, Trivandrum etc.

  1. By road:

If you intend to drive to this beach the ideal starting points would be Pune, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan.

  1. Via Pune:

There are two routes from Pune to this beach, and they are via Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Mumbai-Pune Expressway, and via Tamhini Ghat Road.

      2. Via Mumbai:

There are three routes from Mumbai to this beach, and they are via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway, via NH-66, and via NH-166A.

      3. Via Navi Mumbai:

There are three routes from Navi Mumbai to this beach, and they are via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway and SH-92, via NH-66 and via NH-166A.

     4. Via Kalyan:

There are three routes from Kalyan to this beach, and they are via SH-92, NH-66, and via NH-166A.

  1. By air:

The nearest airport is located in the suburb called Ville Parle. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.

Climate and the best time to visit the Kashid Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in July is extremely “hot” with the mercury rising to about 36 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in August and ends in October is extremely heavy. The winter season on the other hand which begins in November and ends in February is extremely pleasant with the mercury dropping to as low as 14 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during the winter season from November to February.

Things/activities to do

There are not many things/activities to do found around this beach apart from water surfing. The waves generated at this beach are unusually high water reaching a height of about 5 to 6 feet thereby making this beach an ideal spot for surfing. Although, the waves generated during the monsoon season is extremely dangerous, and so surfing during the months of August to October is to be avoided. In addition, this scenic and pristine beach also serves as a perfect getaway destination for people living in Mumbai.
