Korlai Beach – Maharashtra
Alternatively comprising of “white and black sand” is a picturesque and tranquil filled beach known as Korlai Beach. This beautiful and serene beach is located in a village called Korlai in close proximity to Alibaug in the Raigad district in Maharashtra. Furthermore, this beach situated at a distance of 120 km from the city of Mumbai apart from its scenic beauty and serenity is also known for being pristine. Additionally, a popular fort called Korlai lies in close proximity to this beach.

- By train:
The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Panvel. The Panvel Railway Station is well connected to major railway stations in the country such as New Delhi, Trivandrum etc.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to this beach the ideal starting points would be Pune, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan.
- Via Pune:
There is one route from Pune to this beach, and it is via Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai Pune Highway/Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
2. Via Mumbai:
There are two routes from Mumbai to this beach, and they are via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway and SH-92.
3. Via Navi Mumbai:
There are three routes from Navi Mumbai to this beach, and they are via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway and SH-92, via NH-166A, and via NH-66.
4. Via Kalyan:
There are three routes from Kalyan to this beach, and they are via SH-92, via NH-66, and via NH-166.
- By air:
The nearest airport is located in the suburb called Ville Parle. The ChhatrapatiShivaji International Airport is connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.
Climate and the best time to visit the Korlai Beach
The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in July is extremely “hot” with the mercury rising to about 36 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in August and ends in October is extremely heavy. The winter season on the other hand which begins in November and ends in February is extremely pleasant with the mercury dropping to as low as 14 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during the winter season from November to February.

There are a number of things/activities to do found around this beach worth exploring. They are as follows
- Korlai Fort:
The Korlai Fort also known Castle Curfew or EL moro is located in close proximity to this beach. It was built in 1521 with permission from the Sultan of Ahmednagar. The unique feature of this fort being the magnificent view it provides of the Arabian Sea in the east as well as of the Revdanda Creek which lies in the west.
2. Lighthouse:
An operational lighthouse is located in close proximity to this beach. This lighthouse built in 1955 is fully equipped to navigate ships. In addition, this lighthouse also provides for magnificent views of the fort on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other side.
3. Church:
An abandoned church which was functional till 1728 is also located in close proximity to this beach. In addition, tourists interested in photography can click pictures of this old church.
