Anjadip Beach – Karnataka
At a distance of 2 km from the Binaga Village in Karnataka lies a picturesque beach called Anjadip Beach. This beautiful beach is located on an island called Anjadip that possesses an area of 1.5 sq km. According to history, it was on this island that Vasco Da Gama and Gaspar Da Gama (a trader) requested the King of Portugal to build a naval fort. In addition, this island/beach is famous for an annual feast dedicated to Our Lady of Springs known as “Nossa Se nhora das Brotas” as well as to the Chapel of St Francis D’Assisi.

- By train:
The nearest railway station is located in Karwar itself. The Karwar Railway Station is well connected via the Konkan Railway to major cities in the country such as Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin, and Ahmedabad etc.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to this beach the ideal starting points are Margao, Panjim, Vasco Da Gama, Hubli, and Mangalore.
- Via Margao:
There is one route available from Margao to this beach, and it is via NH-66.
2. Via Panjim:
There are three routes available from Panjim to this beach, and it is via NH-66, via Curchorem-Ponda Road, and via NH-748 and NH-66.
3. Via Vasco Da Gama:
There are two routes available from Vasco Da Gama to this beach, and they are via NH-66 and via Curchorem-Ponda Road and NH-66.
4. Via Hubli:
There are two routes available from Hubli to this beach, and they are via NH-52 and via SH-6 and NH-52.
5. Via Mangalore:
There is one route from Mangalore to this beach, and it is via NH-66.
- By air:
The closest airport is located in Dabolim in Goa at a distance of 97 km. The Dabolim airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well as international destination.
Climate and the best time to visit Anjadip Beach
The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in June is hot and humid with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 36 degree Celsius to a minimum of 30 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon from July to October is “moderate”. The winter season on the other hand which begins in November and ends in February is extremely pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 29 degree Celsius to a minimum of 17 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beautiful beach is from November to February.

- Dolphin Watching:
The Arabian Sea located in close proximity to this beach is home to the dolphin. Furthermore, motor boat services for dolphin watching are available at this beach thereby providing for a closer view of this elegant fish.
Places To Visit Around Anjadip Beach
1. Anjadiva Fort:
Located in close proximity to this beach is the Anjadiva Fort which was constructed by the Portuguese. Currently, though this fort essentially lies in ruins. Additionally, the Portuguese abandoned this fort in the year 1843. Furthermore, this fort was used as shelter by both Hindus and Christians when Tipu Sultan attacked this region.
2. Church of Our Lady of Springs:
This Church of Our Lady of Springs constructed in 1505 is located in close proximity to this beach. Furthermore, an annual fest organized in honour of Our Lady of Springs is extremely popular event at this beach.
