Ullal Beach – Karnataka

Considered to one among the “best beaches in Karnataka” is a scenic beach called Ullal. This beautiful and extremely pristine beach is located in a small fishing village called Ullal Beach at a distance of 12 km from Mangalore. It is also renowned for possessing about 14 acres of casuarinas groves. In addition, this beach is also famous for providing magnificent views of the setting sun and is surrounding by major tourist attractions such as Someshwara Temple and Summer Sands Beach Resort.

How to Reach the Ullal Beach?

  1. By train:

The closest railway station to this beach is located in Mangalore. The Mangalore Railway Station is well connected to major cities in the country such as Chennai, Mumbai etc.

  1. By road:

If you intend to drive to this beach then the ideal starting points would be Udupi, Bangalore, Mysore, and Coimbatore.

  1. Via Udupi:

There are two routes from Udupi to this beach, and they include via NH-66 and via SH-67 and NH-66.

      2. Via Bangalore:

There are three routes from Bangalore to this beach, and they include via NH-75, via NH-275, and via NH-48.

      3. Via Mysore:

There are three routes from Mysore, and they include via Mangalore-Mysore Highway, via SH 57 and SH 75, and via NH 75.

      4. Via Coimbatore:

There are three routes from Coimbatore to this beach, and they are via NH-66, via NH-275, and via NH-75.

  1. By air:

The nearest airport to this beach is located in Mangalore. The Mangalore International Airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well some major destination in the Middle East. 

Climate and the best time to visit the Ullal Beach

The climate at this beach during summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely hot and humid with the mercury rising to a maximum temperature of 39 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoons which begins in June and ends in September is “heavy”. The winter season which begins in December and ends in February is pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 34 degree Celsius to a minimum of 20 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is from December to February.

Things/activities to do

This beach is mainly renowned for its picturesque beauty and serene environment, and not many things/activities to do are found over here. In addition, this beach consists of about 14 acres of casuarinas groves that provide for magnificent views under the backdrop of the setting sun. Furthermore, the Summer Sands Beach Resort located in close proximity to this beach is popular picnic spot. Additionally, activities such as swimming and sunbathing are frequently witnessed at this beach.
