Located in a 17th century village is an extremely scenic beach called Kihim Beach. This picturesque beach is situated to the north of the coastal town Alibaug in a village called Kihim. In addition, the area surrounding this beach comprises of a number of dense green trees that adds more charm to its overall beauty. Furthermore, this beach is also renowned for being a “Bird watchers paradise”, and possesses a wide range of butterfly species.

  1. By train:

The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Pen at a distance of 30 km. The Pen Railway Station is well connected to Mumbai as well as Panvel.

  1. By road:

If you intend to drive to this beach the ideal starting points would be Pune, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan.

  1. Via Pune:

There is one route from Pune to this beach, and it is via Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

      2. Via Mumbai:

There are three routes from Mumbai to this beach, and they are via MH SH 104, via NH-66, and via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway.

      3. Via Navi Mumbai:

There are there three routes from Navi Mumbai to this beach, and they are via MH SH 104 and NH-66, via NH-66, and via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway and Pen-Khopoli Road.

      4. Via Kalyan:

There are three routes from Kalyan to this beach, and they are via NH-66, via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Mumbai-Pune Expressway, and via MH SH 104.

  1. By air:

The nearest airport is located in the suburb called Ville Parle. The ChhatrapatiShivaji International Airport is connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.

Climate and the best time to visit this Kihim Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in July is extremely “hot” with the mercury rising to about 36 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in August and ends in October is extremely heavy. The winter season on the other hand which begins in November and ends in February is extremely pleasant with the mercury dropping to as low as 14 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during the winter season from November to February.

Apart from its scenic and picturesque beauty this beach is renowned for possessing a variety of exotic bird species, and hence is considered to be “Bird’s paradise”. In addition, a variety of butterfly species are also found at this beach. Furthermore, some major tourist attractions found around this beach include the Kankeshwar Temple, Siddheshwar Temple, Kihim Pond etc.
