Marve Beach – Maharashtra
In close proximity to the “Aksa Beach” in the city of Mumbai is yet another scenic beach called Marve. This beach is located in the suburb of Malad. Movement at this beach is restricted because it is narrow as well as due to the presence of an Indian Naval base i.e. INS Hamla. Furthermore, it is from this beach that ferry services to the Gorai Beach, Manori Beach, Uttan, and Esselworld/Water Kingdom are available.

- By train:
The closest major railway station to this beach is located in Malad/Borivali. There are auto services available from these railway stations to the Marve Beach.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to this beach then the ideal starting points would be Pune, Thane, Kalyan, and Navi Mumbai.
- Via Pune:
There is one route from Pune to this beach, and it is via Mumbai-Bangalore Highway- Mumbai-Pune Highway.
2. Via Thane:
There are two routes from Thane to this beach, and they are via NH-48 and via Eastern Express Highway/Mumbai-Agra National Highway and JVLR.
3. Via Kalyan:
There are two routes from Kalyan to this beach, and they are via NH-48 and NH-160.
4. Via Navi Mumbai:
There are two routes from Navi Mumbai to this beach, and they are via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Sion-Panvel Highway and Western Express Highway, and via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Sion-Panvel Highway/Western Express Highway and Marve Road.
- By air:
The nearest airport is located in the suburb called Ville Parle. The ChhatrapatiShivaji International Airport is connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.
Climate and the best time to visit the Marve Beach
The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely hot with the mercury rising to up to about 40 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in September is “heavy”. The winter season which begins in November and ends in February on the other hand is pleasant with the mercury even dropping to a minimum of a 10 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during the winters from November to February.
Things/activities to do
There are a number of street food stalls that provide for delicious local snacks such as panipuri, Wada pav etc on this beach. Additionally, this beach is also renowned for commercial fishing with the local fishermen community i.e. Kolis located in large numbersaround this beach. Furthermore, the famous amusement and water park Esselworld and Water Kingdom is situated in close proximity to this beach which can be reached via ferry services available over here.
Word of Caution:
Swimming is an activity not recommended at this beach due to the strong currents that the sea water adjacent to this beach possesses.
