Arambol Beach – Goa

Located at a distance of 55 km away from Panaji, and also known as “Harmal” is a picturesque beach in Goa called “Arambol Beach”.  This beach which is shaped like a cove is slightly curved making swimming extremely safe. Furthermore, this beach is popular for its pristine environment and scenic beauty thereby attracting a large number of tourists. A unique feature of this beach being the palm trees (seen for about 16 km) that surrounds it.

  1. By train:

The closest railway station to Arambol is located in Margao. The Margao Railway Station is well connected to major cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Agra etc.

      2. By road:

The best way to travel via road to this beach is through NH-17A which connects Goa to neighbouring states such as Maharashtra and Karnataka. In addition, there are also a number of bus services that operate between Panjim and Arambol as well from other states such as Mumbai, Bangalore etc.

      3. By air:

The nearest airport to this beach is located in Dabolim. The Dabolim or the Goa International Airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well to international destinations.

Climate and the best time to visit Arambol Beach

The best time to visit this beach during the “pleasant” winter season which begins in December and ends in February with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degree Celsius to a minimum of 21 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon which arrives in June and departs in September is “heavy”. The summer which begins in March and ends in March is “hot and humid” with the mercury rising to a maximum of 35 degree Celsius.

There are a number of must do things located in and around Arambol. They are as follows

  1. Terekhol Fort

The Terekhol Fort was built during the 18thcentury by the Maratha dynasty. The fort was then captured by the Portuguese. A part of this once historic fort has now been converted into a luxurious hotel called “Fort Tiracol” while, the rest of it is on public display.

      2. Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre

The Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre is essentially a branch of the Iyengar Yoga School that serves as a winter centre to the one located in Dharamkot near Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh. This centre provides first time students with an introductory five day course. In addition, it also offers interested students with an advanced five day course that too at reduced prices.

Thing to do at Arambol Beach

      1. Arambhol Paragliding

There are several operators located in this beach that provide for paragliding for all those adventure loving junkies.

      2. Arambhol Surf Club

The Arambhol Surf Club located at this beach is ideal all those who are professional surfers as well for those who intend to learn the art of surfing. This club also provides for a surfing instructor capable of speaking English, Russian, Hindi, Konkani, and Japanese. In addition, this club also provides for only surf board service.

    3. Surf Shack:

Located at this beach is bar and restaurant known as Surf Shack that provides for typical Goan cuisine and alcoholic beverages. It also provides for Continental, Chinese, Indian, Israeli, and Tibetan food. With regards to seafood delicacies this restaurant gives the costumer to select  the fish they want to consume, before cooking and serving it fresh.
