Gomtimata Beach – Diu
Located on the Saurashtra coast in Diu is an extremely picturesque beach called Gomtimata Beach. This scenic beach comprises of beautiful white sand, and considered to be amongst the best beaches in Diu. It is also surrounded by beautiful palm groves that help add charm to its inherent beauty. In addition, a temple is located in close proximity to this beach.

How to Reach the Gomtimata Beach?

- By train:
The nearest railway station to the beach (since Diu does not possess its own station) is located in Veraval. The Veraval Railway Station is well connected to major stations such as Rajkot, Ahmedabad etc.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to this beach there are three preferable routes available, and they are via Diu, Bhuj, Somnath, and Veraval.
- Via Diu:
There one route available via the Vanakbara Road.
2. Via Bhuj:
There are two routes available and they are via NH-27 and via the Bhuj-Bhachau Highway and NH-27.
3. Via Somnath:
There are three routes available, and they are via NH-51, via SH-26 and NH-51, via Una-Talala Road, and NH-51.
- By air:
The nearest airport to the beach is the Diu Airport. This airport is well connected to major cities in the country such as Mumbai.
Climate and the best time to visit Gomtimata Beach
The temperature during summers in Diu which begins in March and ends in July ranges from 30 to 38 degree Celsius. The monsoons are usually heavy and arrive in August and depart in October while the winter that begins in November and ends in February is usually extremely cold with the mercury dropping to as low as 12 degree Celsius. The best time to visit this wonderful beach being the summer months of March to July since the climate is extremely pleasant during this period.
Things/activities to do:
In general, there are not many things/activities to do found in and around this beach apart from a temple located in close proximity, and a few water sporting activities. This beach is eventually to be enjoyed for its picturesque beauty that includes the magnificent view of the setting sun and the cool breeze.
Word of Caution:
Since the sea surrounding this beach is deemed to be risky due to the presence of 2 to 3-meter tall waves swimming is not recommended.
