Karwar Beach – Karnataka
Located on the Goa-Karnataka border at a distance of 100 km from Goa is a picturesque beach called Karwar Beach. Folklore states that the great Indian poet and playwright Rabindranath Tagore wrote his first play at this beach taking inspiration from its beauty. Furthermore, this beach is popular for seafood cuisine prepared in typical “Karwari” style (i.e. use of coconut and spice). In addition, it is also popular for a number of water sports activities.

- By train:
The nearest railway station is located in Karwar itself. The Karwar Railway Station is well connected via the Konkan Railway to major cities in the country such as Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin, and Ahmedabad etc.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to this beach the ideal starting points are Margao, Panjim, Vasco Da Gama, Hubli, and Mangalore.
- Via Margao:
There exist one route from Margao, and it includes via NH-66.
2. Via Panjim:
There exist three routes from Panjim, and it includes via NH-66, via NH-748 and NH-66, and NH-748, SH-7, and NH-66.
3. Via Vasco Da Gama:
There exist two routes from Vasco Da Gama, and they include via NH-66 and Via Curchorem-Ponda Road and NH-66.
4. Via Hubli:
There exist two routes from Hubli, and they include via NH-52, and via SH-46.
5. Via Mangalore:
There is one route that is available from Mangalore, and it includes via NH-66.
- By air:
The closest airport is located in Dabolim in Goa at a distance of 97 km. The Dabolim airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well as international destination.
Climate and the best time to visit Karwar Beach
The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in June is hot and humid with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 36 degree Celsius to a minimum of 30 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon from July to October is “moderate”. The winter season on the other hand which begins in November and ends in February is extremely pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 29 degree Celsius to a minimum of 17 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beautiful beach is from November to February.

- Water/water sports related activities:
There are a number of water related activities such as fishing, boating, snorkelling, kayaking etc available at this beach. In addition, professional with regards to water sports such as snorkelling help if required is also available at this beach.
2. Seafood restaurants:
There are number of seafood serving restaurants located around this beach. These restaurants are especially renowned for serving typical “Karwari” style (i.e. use of coconut and spice) style fish curry.
3. Karavali Festival/Utsav:
The Karavali Festival is organized by the Uttara Kannada District Administration to celebrate the socio-economic background of this region. During this festival several shops and stalls selling a variety of products are set up during this festival. In addition, during this festival many regional, national, and international artists shows also perform and they include Bollywood and Kannada film stars.
