Girye Beach – Maharashtra
Located in close proximity to the Vijaydurg Fort is an extremely pristine and a virgin beach called Girye Beach. This scenic beach is situated in a town called Girye in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. In addition, this beautiful beach is located in a secluded spot and has not yet been developed and hence does not attract many tourists.

- By train:
The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Sawantwadi. The Sawantwadi Railway Station is well connected to major cities in the country such as Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi etc.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to this beach then the ideal starting points would be Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, and Kolhapur.
- Via Mumbai:
There are two routes from Mumbai to this beach, and they are via NH-66 and via NH-48.

There are two routes from Pune to this beach, and they are via NH-48 and via NH-48 and Chauk-Karjat-Murbad Road.
3. Via Solapur:
There are three routes from Solapur to this beach, and they are via NH-204, via SH-143, and via Mumbai Highway.
4. Via Kolhapur:
There are two routes from Kolhapur to this beach, and they are via Chauk-Karjat-Murbad Road and MH SH 115 and via NH-166.
- By air:
The closest airport to this beach is located in Dabolim. The Goa International Airport Dabolim is well connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.
Climate and the best time to visit the Girye Beach
The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely “hot and humid” with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 38 degree Celsius to a minimum of 28 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in October is extremely “heavy”. On the other hand the winter season which begins in November and ends in February is pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degree Celsius and a minimum of 16 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is from March to February during the winter.
Places To Visit Around Girye Beach
There are not many things/activities to do found around this beach apart from visiting the Vijaydurg Fort which is located in close proximity to this beach. This fort which was earlier known as “Gheria” was captured by the great Maratha Emperor Shivaji in 1653 from Adilshaha of Bijapur, which was then renamed Vijaydurg meaning “Fort of Victory” is a worth visit. Another fort known as ‘Devgad’ located in close proximity to this beach (via MH SH4 and Vijaydurg Rd) at a distance of about 28.1 km, is also worth visiting.
