In close proximity to a city called Devgad in Maharashtra lies a scenic and secluded beach called Madhban Beach. This picturesque beach is located in the Sindhudurg district. Furthermore, this beach is known for its pristine surroundings and clean sea water. In addition, to its scenic beauty this beach is also renowned for possessing many aquatic species as well as migratory birds. It also comprises of several restaurants that provide for authentic coastal cuisine as well as decent accommodation for tourists.

The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Sawantwadi. The Sawantwadi Railway Station is well connected to major cities in the country such as Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi etc.

  1. By road:

If you intend to drive to this beach then the ideal starting points would be Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, and Kolhapur.

  1. Via Mumbai:

There are two routes from Mumbai to this beach, and they are via NH-66 and via NH-48.

      2. Via Pune:

There are three routes from Pune to this beach, and they are via NH-48, via NH-66, and via NH-66 and MH SH-4.

      3. Via Solapur:

There are three routes from Solapur to this beach, and they are via NH-204, via SH-143, and via Mumbai Highway.

      4. Via Kolhapur:

There are three routes from Kolhapur to this beach, and they are via Chauk-Karjat-Murbad Road and SH-114, via NH-166, and via SH-114.

  1. By air:

The closest airport to this beach is located in Dabolim. The Goa International Airport Dabolim is well connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.

Climate and the best time to visit the Madhban Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely “hot and humid” with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 38 degree Celsius to a minimum of 28 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in October is extremely “heavy”. On the other hand the winter season which begins in November and ends in February is pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degree Celsius and a minimum of 16 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is from March to February during the winter.

There are few things/activities to do found around this beach. They are as follows

  1. Water Sports:

There are a number of water sports such as snorkelling, diving, water surfing, water skiing, boating, water scooters, and parasailing that are available at this beach for adventure loving tourists to enjoy.

      2. Bird Watcher’s Paradise:

A number of migratory birds can be found at this beach thereby making it an absolute “paradise” for genuine bird watchers and nature lovers.

      3. Sunset views:

This beach also provides for magnificent panoramic views of the “setting sun” which must be truly experienced by tourists.

      4. Vijaydurg Fort:

In close proximity to this beach lies the famous Vijaydurg Fort that was built during the Shilahar dynasty under the leadership Raja Bhoja II. This fort was later rebuilt by Shivaji Maharaja. In addition, this fort is said to be the only other fort apart from Torna where Shivaji is supposed to have personally hoisted the saffron flag.
