Madh Island Beach – Maharashtra
Considered to be amongst “the most popular beaches” in the city of Mumbai is the Madh Island Beach. This beautiful beach is located in Madh Island on the North-Western coast of Mumbai. The mangrove that surrounds this beach not only adds charm to it but also helps separate it from the mainland In addition, since this beach is located in a desolate spot the atmosphere surrounding it is filled with tranquillity thereby making it ideal for relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of city life. - By train:
The closest major railway station to this beach is located in Malad located at a distance of 12 km.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to this beach then the ideal starting points would be Pune, Thane, Kalyan, and Navi Mumbai.
- Via Pune:
There is one route from Pune, and it is via Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway.
2. Via Thane:
There are two routes from Thane, and it is via NH-48 and via Eastern Express Highway/Mumbai Agra National Highway and JVLR.
3. Via Kalyan:
There is one route from Kalyan, and it is via NH-160 and NH-48.
4. Via Navi Mumbai:
There are two routes from Navi Mumbai, and they are via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Sion-Panvel Highway and Western Express Highway, and via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Sion-Panvel Highway/VN Purav Marg and Western Express Highway.
- By air:
The nearest airport is located in the suburb called Ville Parle. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.
- By water:
There are a number of ferry services available from Versova and from Gorai Creek to this beach.
Climate and the best time to visit the Madh Island Beach
The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely hot with the mercury rising to up to about 40 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in September is “heavy”. The winter season which begins in November and ends in February, on the other hand, is pleasant with the mercury even dropping to a minimum of a 10 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during the winters from November to February.

- Erangal Village:
In close proximity to this beach is a picturesque village called Erangal that is well worth the visit.
2. Madh Fort:
The Madh Fort also known as the Versova Fort is situated in close proximity to this beach was built by the Portuguese. Apparently, this fort was used as a watchtower and was also used to train cadets.
3. St Bonaventure:
Also located in close proximity to this beach is a church called St Bonaventure built by the Portuguese during the 16th Century.
