Located in close proximity to a small city in Maharashtra called Rajapur is a pristine and picturesque beach called Padavane Ambolgad Beach. This beautiful beach is located in the Ratnagiri district. In addition, to its scenic and pristine beauty this beach is also renowned for activities such as swimming and sunbathing. The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Ratnagiri. The Ratnagiri Railway Station is well connected to major cities and towns that lie on the Konkan Railway Line.

There are three routes from Kolhapur to this beach, and they are via MH SH 269, via Kotoli Road, and via NH-166 and MH SH 110.

      2. Via Mumbai:

There are two routes from Mumbai to this beach, and they are via NH-66 and NH-48.

      3. Via Pune:

There are three routes from Pune to this beach, and they are via NH-48, via NH-66, and via NH-66 and via MH SH-4.

      4. Via Belgaum:

There are three routes from Belgaum to this beach, and they are via NH-48, via Sawantwadi Road and NH-66, and via Hathkhamba-Goa Road.

  1. By air:

The closest major airport to this beach is located in Mumbai, The ChhatrapatiShivaji International Airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well as international destinations.

Climate and the best time to visit the Padavane Ambolgad Beach

The maximum temperature at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May rises to about 38 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in September is heavy. On the other hand the winter season which begins in December and ends in February is pleasant with the mercury dropping to as low as 15 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during the winter from December to February.

There are few things/activities to do found in and around this beach worth exploring. They are as follows

  1.  Water Sports:

A number of water sports such as water skiing, parasailing, water surfing diving, snorkelling etc are available at this beach that can be enjoyed by tourists. In addition, boat rides are also available at this beach. Furthermore, this beach is also ideally suited for swimming.

      2. Bird watching:

A number of migratory birds are observed at this beach thereby making it ideal for bird watching, and a paradise for “bird watchers”.

      3. Forts:

A number of historical forts are found around this beach are worth visiting especially for history lovers. For example, the Ambolgad Fort that is located at a distance of 1 km from the beach and Victory Fort that is situated at a distance of 8 km.

Interesting facts

In close proximity to this beach lies an ancient temple as well as yet another beach called Madban.
