Located in close proximity to the coastal town of Alibaug (at a distance of 3 km) is an extremely scenic beach called Varsoli Beach. This picturesque beach is situated in a village called Varsoli in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. In addition, this beach which is about 2 km in length is surrounded by beautiful Casuarina groves. Furthermore, it is also known for its white sand and pristine atmosphere. It is also considered to be one among the many beaches in this region popular for water sports activities.

  1. By train:

The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Pen at a distance of 30 km. The Pen Railway Station is well connected to Mumbai as well as Panvel.

  1. By road:

If you intend to drive to this beach the ideal starting points would be Pune, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan.

  1. Via Pune:

There is one route from Pune to this beach, and it is via Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

      2. Via Mumbai:

There are three routes from Mumbai to this beach, and they are via NH-66, via NH-166A, and via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway.

      3. Via Navi Mumbai:

There are three routes from Navi Mumbai to this beach, and they are via NH-66 and NH-166A, via MH SH 104 and NH-66 and NH-166A, and via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway and Pen Khopoli Road.

      4. Via Kalyan:

There are three routes from Kalyan to this beach, and they are via NH-66, via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai Bangalore Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

  1. By air:

The nearest airport is located in the suburb called Ville Parle. The ChhatrapatiShivaji International Airport is connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.

Climate and the best time to visit the Varsoli Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in July is extremely “hot” with the mercury rising to about 36 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in August and ends in October is extremely heavy. The winter season on the other hand which begins in November and ends in February is extremely pleasant with the mercury dropping to as low as 14 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during the winter season from November to February.

Things/activities to do

This beach apart from it scenic beauty is popular for providing a number of water sports such as jet skiing, bumper ride, ATV ride etc priced at about Rs 300, Rs 250, and Rs 150 per person respectively. In addition, there are a number of other beaches such as Kashid, Mandwa, Khiimetc located in close proximity to this beach that are worth visiting.
