Located in North of Goa in the Bardez taluka is a picturesque beach called “Anjuna Beach”. This scenic “rock” beach is considered to be one of the popular beaches among foreign tourists mainly due to the party/hippy culture that exists. Popular churches such as St Michael’s Church, St Antonio etc are located in close proximity to this beach. Furthermore, this pristine and scenic beach is also renowned for hosting lavish “trance parties”.In addition, this beach is situated in close proximity to Vagator.

How to Reach  Anjuna Beach?

  1. By train:

The nearest major railway station is located in Thivim at a distance of 19 km from this beach.

Stay with a local in their home

  1. By road:

The ideal way to travel to this beach via road is through Mapusa. There are three routes available from Mapusa to Anjuna. The three routes are as follows:

  1. Via Anjuna-Mapusa Road

This route includes the Duler-Marna-Siolim Road, Ghateshwar Nagar, AnjunaMapusa Road, MazalWaddo, before finally reaching Anjuna.

      2. Via Duler-Marna-Siolim Road

This route includes Balkrishna Bhosale Marg, Anjuna Mapusa Road, before finally reaching Anjuna.

      3. Via Calangute-Mapusa-Anjuna Road

This route includes Duler-Marna-Solim Road Anjuna-Mapusa Road, Calangute-Mapusa Road, MazalWaddo, and finally Anjuna.

  1. By air:

The closest airport is located in Dabolim at a distance of 29 km. The Dabolim Airport is well connected to major cities in the country.

Climate and the best time to visit Anjuna Beach:

The ideal time to visit this beach is during the “pleasant” winters which begins in December and ends in February with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degree Celsius to a minimum of 21 degree Celsius. Rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in September is heavy. The summer which arrives in March and departs in May is “hot and humid” with the mercury rising to about 35 degree Celsius.

Things to do at Anjuna Beach

There are number of things/activities to do that are available on this beautiful beach. They are as follows:

  1. Adventure Sports: A variety of adventure sports such as wind surfing, parasailing, paragliding etc are available at this beach thereby, making an ideal hotspot for adventure loving junkies. 

      2. Wednesday Flea Market

The Wednesday Flea market is extremely popular with tourists. This market which is open only on Wednesdays is famous for selling items such as imported electric gadgets, Tibetan, Kashmiri, Gujarati trinkets, handicrafts, artificial ornament carvings, cassettes of Goan Trance music, colourful T-shirts, etc.

      3. The Acid House Party

The Acid House Party is a popular trance party that attracts a large number of tourists. Usually celebrated on a full moon night this party is filled with fun and frolic. In addition, this party tends to continue whole night long.

      4. Other activities

Apart from its scenic beauty, party culture, and adventure sports this beach is also known for activities such as swimming and sunbathing.
