Cavelossim Beach – Goa
Rated the 5th best in India by TripAdvisor in 2016 is an extremely scenic beach called “Cavelossim Beach” located in Goa. Situated in the Cavelossim Village this beautiful beach is known for possessing a unique combination of “black rocks and white sand”. It is renowned for its tranquil filled environment, and hence attracts a large number of tourists. In addition, this beach is sandwiched between the River Sal on the east coast and the Arabian Sea on the west coast.

- By train:
The nearest railway station is located in Madgaon in Margao City located at a distance of 15 km. The Madgaon Railway Station is well connected to major cities and towns in the country.
- By Road:
If you intend to travel via road to this beach the ideal way is to start from Margao. There are three routes available from Margao. They are as follows
- Via MDR43
This route includes Swami Chinmayanand Road, Mandopa Road, NH-66, Deusua-Chinchinim Road, Naelim Village, and finally the beach.
2. Via Varca-Margao Road and MDR43
This route includes Swami Chinmayanand, Quepem Road, Varca-Margo Road, Navelim Village, and finally the beach.
3. Via St. Joaquim Road, Varca-Margo Road and MDR43
- By air:
The closest airport located to this beach is located in Dabolim. The Dabolim Airport is well connected to major cities and towns in the country.
Climate and best time to visit Cavelossim Beach
The best time to visit this beach is during the “pleasant” winter that arrives during December and departs in February with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degrelaree Celsius to a minimum of 21 degree Celsius. The summers which begins in March and ends in May is generally “hot and humid” with the average temperature of 35 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in September is “heavy”.
Things to do at Cavelossim Beach
There are a number of activities that one can do at this beach. They are as follows:
a. Water Sport activities: At this beach a number of water sport activities such as wind surfing, jet skiing, speed boat rides, parasailing, banana boat rides, and bumper rides are extremely popular. The cost of most of these water related activities ranging from Rs 500 to about Rs 1000 for a single individual.
b. Dolphin sighting: There are boat ride services available at this beach that provide for “dolphin sighting” trips in the Arabian Sea.
c. Sunbathing and swimming: Since this beach is extremely clean and sparsely crowded it serves as an ideal spot for sunbathing under the scorching sun. The sea located alongside this beach is also safe, and hence swimming is an activity extremely popular with tourists.
d. Beach Shacks: With regards to food there are a few shacks available at this beach including one named Pearl’s Beach Cafe which provides for some delicious Goan seafood and wide range of alcoholic beverages. In addition, this shack owned by Cruz Cardozo also provides for a “relaxed” ambiance and the magnificent view of the sea.
