The Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands located alongside the Bay of Bengal is an extremely popular tourist hotspot. Now, the major reason for this popularity is the presence of a number of picturesque beaches on this island. Furthermore, apart from the scenic beauty of these beaches they also provide for delicious cuisine. a. South Indian Cuisine:
“Migration” from South India to these beautiful islands has been a common phenomenon for years now. It is due to the heavy presence of the South Indian community on this island that the cuisine belonging to Southern India is extremely popular. Secondly, this archipelago also consists of coconut as well as fish in abundance (main ingredients of cuisine belonging to south), as a result of which South Indian cuisine is extremely popular. And so South Indian delicacies such as idli, dosa, sambhar, fish curry etc belonging to Kerala and Tamil Nadu are readily available on this island. In addition, Andhra cuisine which basically possesses a “Mughal” touch, and comprises of spicy kebabs and biryani are also available on this island.
Furthermore, popular Kerala snack products such as banana chips and jackfruit chips are available on this island. These items belonging to “God’s own country” (i.e. Kerala) is extremely popular with tourists who visit the picturesque beaches of this beautiful archipelago called “Andaman and Nicobar”.
b. North Indian Cuisine:
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands is an extremely popular tourist destination in India, and hence is visited by a large number of domestic as well as international tourists annually. Now, it has been found that a majority of the domestic tourists visiting the island prefer consuming the cuisine of North India. And, so you will find a large number of restaurants around the beaches in the island providing for delicious cuisine belonging to northern India. The North Indian delicacies mainly include the use of some “exotic” spices. Furthermore, the type of northern Indian delicacies commonly found in restaurants around beaches in this island, include paneer based dishes, and a variety of bread such as nan, parathas, and kulcha. In addition, a delicacy known as Chole Bhature is also extremely popular in restaurants located around the scenic beaches in this island situated along the Bay of Bengal.
In conclusion, it would be apt to say that the Andaman and Nicobar island beaches are truly worth visiting for its scenic beauty as well as for the delicious north and south Indian cuisine made available by most restaurants situated in this picturesque region.
