Achara Beach – Maharashtra
Considered to be amongst the most “charming” beaches in the Sindhudurg district is a beautiful beach called Achara Beach. This picturesque beach is located in the Malvan region in the state of Maharashtra. In addition, to its scenic beauty this enchanting beach also comprises of a large population of “dolphins”. Furthermore, it is also known to be home to some “exotic” migratory birds. Overall this beach serves as a paradise for swimmers, sun bathers, dolphin and bird watchers.

The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Kankavali at a distance of 36 km. In addition, taxi as well as state transport bus services are available from this station to the beach.
- By Road:
If you intend to drive to this beach then the ideal starting points would be Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, and Kolhapur.
- Via Mumbai:
There are two routes from Mumbai to this beach, and they are via NH-48 and via NH-66.

There are three routes from Pune to this beach, and they are via NH-48 and Chauk-KarjatMurbad Road, via NH-66, and via TamhiniGhat Road and NH-66.
3. Via Solapur:
There are three routes from Solapur to this beach, and they are via NH-204 and Chauk-Karjat-Murbad Road, via Chauk-Karjat-Murbad Road, and via NH-52.
4. Via Kolhapur:
There are two routes from Kolhapur to this beach, and they are via Chauk-Karjat-Murbad Road and via NH-66.

The closest airport to this beach is located in Dabolim. The Goa International Airport Dabolim is well connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.
Climate and the best time to visit the Achara Beach
The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely “hot and humid” with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 38 degree Celsius to a minimum of 28 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in October is extremely “heavy”. On the other hand the winter season which begins in November and ends in February is pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degree Celsius and a minimum of 16 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is from March to February during the winter.

A number of water sports such as snorkelling and sailing and water related activities such as swimming can be enjoyed at this beach.

1. Temples:
A number of old and religiously significant temples such as the Mahadev Temple, the Bhavanimata Temple are located around this beach are visited regularly by ardent devotees.
2. Sindhudurga Fort:
In close proximity to this beach is the Sindhudurga Fort which is renowned for its architecture. In addition, boat rides are available from this fort.
