Goa, also known as ‘Land of the Sun and Sand’ has a number of fabulously beautiful beaches. Most of these beaches are geographically either located in the north or in the south of Goa. Now, why should you bother about north and south Goa? It’s because these two parts of Goa present different types of experiences. Most tourists visiting Goa plan their travel (especially those wanting to use rail as transport) according to the geographic location of the beaches. The closest railway stations to north Goan beaches are Karmali, Thivim, and Verna, while for south Goan beaches the nearest railway stations are Balli, Cancona, and Madgaon.

It is said that the true beauty of Goan beaches lie in the fact that all of them are extremely ‘scenic and pristine’. Surrounded by beautiful coconut palms, clean white sand, and clear blue sea water, all the beaches in this small state are extremely soothing to the eyes. Now, since tourism is the biggest revenue generating industry for the state all the beaches have been well maintained, as a result of which most of them have a serene and relaxing air about them.

In addition, clubs such as ‘The World Famous Decades Bar’ and ‘Club LPK’ located near the Calangute and Candolim Beach respectively are also extremely popular with tourists who love to party.

“Food shacks” is what can be commonly observed on most beaches in Goa. These so called “shacks” basically provide for delicious authentic Goan cuisine i.e. seafood oriented. For example, the “Curlie’s Beach Shack” and the “Pine Shack” located in close proximity to the Anjuna and Calangute/Candolim Beach respectively are extremely popular with tourists. In fact, the Pine Shack is also renowned for providing a service that includes a beach side bonfire barbeque.

Water sporting activities are also what many beaches in Goa are popularly known for especially in North Goa. So be it parasailing, jet skiing, windsurfing, banana boat rides, or kite surfing, there are several beaches in Goa that provide good quality facilities for these water related adventure activities. Furthermore, the beaches in Goa, ideal for ‘water sport junkies’ include Baga, Calangute, Cavelossim, Candolim, Benaulim, and Mobor.
