Kappad Beach – Kerala
Discovered during the 15thcentury by famous Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama is a picturesque beach located in Kerala called Kappad Beach. This beautiful beach is situated in a village called Kappad/Kappakadavu in close proximity to Kozhikode. It essentially possesses a beautiful landscape that includes coconut trees and stretches of pristine white sand. In addition, to its scenic beauty, this beach is also known for a tranquil atmosphere.

- By train:
The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Kozhikode. The Kozhikode Railway Station is well connected to major cities in the country.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to this beach the ideal starting points would be Mangalore, Kannur, Thrissur, Coimbatore, and Bangalore.
- Via Mangalore:
There are three routes from Mangalore to this beach, and they are via NH-66, via NH-275 and via NH-66, and via NH-275.
2. Via Kannur:
There are two routes from Kannur to this beach, and they are via NH-66 and via AnchemPeedika-Kolathuvayal Road and NH-66.
3. Via Thrissur:
There is one route from Thrissur to this beach, and it is via NH-66.
4. Via Coimbatore:
There is one route from Coimbatore to this beach, and it is via Kozhikode-Mallappuram-Palakkad Highway.
5. Via Bangalore:
There is one route from Bangalore to this beach, and it is via NH-275.
- By air:
The closest airport to this beach is located in Calicut at a distance of 23 km. The Calicut Airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.
Climate and the best time to visit the Kappad Beach
The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely “hot and humid” with the temperature ranging from a minimum of 37 degree Celsius to a maximum of 39 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon which begins in June and ends in September is “heavy”. In the meanwhile the winter season which begins in October and ends in February is pleasant with the mercury dropping to about 15 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is from October to February.

- Kappad Backwaters:
This beach provides for beautiful views of the backwaters that include a huge network of lagoons, lakes, canals etc.
2. Boatrides:
There are a number of by boat rides available at this beach that provides for beautiful views of the entire countryside.
3. Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary:
A bird sanctuary called Kadalundi is located in close proximity to the beach at a distance of 25 km. This sanctuary is home to migratory birds such as gulls, sand pipers, terns, and whimbrels.
4. Tusharagiri Water Falls:
A water fall named Tusharagiri is located in close proximity to this beach. The surrounding greenery and the flowing water from the hills is what makes this spot breath taking and a must visit.
