Munambam Beach- Kerala
In the northern end of the Vypeen Island (a group of islands that forms a part of Kochi) lies a scenic and pristine beach called Munambam Beach. This beautiful beach is located in the Ernakulam district and is surrounded by the Arabian Sea. In addition, this beach is considered to be an ideal spot for kite flying. Furthermore, there are many “home stays” that are found around this beach.

- By train:
The nearest railway station to this beach is in Ernakulum. The Ernakulum Railway Junction is well connected to major cities in the country.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to this beach the ideal starting points would be Thrissur, Kottayam, Alappuzha, and Coimbatore.
- Via Thrissur:
There are two routes from Thrissur to this beach, and they are via Kodungallur-Shormur Road and via NH-544 and SH-51.
2. Via Kottayam:
There are three routes from Kottayam to this beach, and they are via SH-15 and NH-66, via NH-66, and via Main Central Road/SH1.
3. Via Alappuzha:
There is one route from Alappuzha to this beach, and it is via NH-66.
4. Via Coimbatore:
There are two routes from Coimbatore to this beach, and it is via NH-544 and via NH-66.
- By air:
The closest airport to this beach is located in Cochin. The Cochin International Airport is well connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.
Climate and the best time to visit the Munambam Beach
The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in June is “dry and humid” with the mercury rising to a maximum of about 37 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in July and ends in September is “heavy”. The winter season on the other hand which begins in October and ends in February is pleasant with the temperature ranging from maximum of 33 degree Celsius to a minimum of 17 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is during winter from October to February.
Things/activities to do
Apart from the scenic beauty of this beach that includes magnificent views of the setting sun there are no things/activities to do found at this beach. Although, a number of restaurants providing fresh fish curry with kappa are located around this beach. In addition, toddy (an alcoholic beverage) is also served at many shops found around this beach.
