Located at a distance of approximately 19 km from Malvan is a pristine and picturesque beach called Tondavali. This virgin and the scenic beach is situated in close proximity to the Kalaval Creek. In addition, to its natural beauty, it is also renowned for providing for water sports as well for “Dolphin viewing”.  Furthermore, there are a number of popular temples located in close proximity to this beach.

How to reach the Tondavali Beach

  1. By train:

The nearest railway station to this beach is located in Kankavali at a distance of 40 km. In addition, taxi, as well as state transport bus service, is available from this station to the beach.

  1. By road:

If you intend to drive to this beach then the ideal starting points would be Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, and Kolhapur.

  1. Via Mumbai:

There are two routes from Mumbai to this beach, and they are via NH-66 and via NH-48.

      2. Via Pune:

There are three routes from Pune to this beach, and they are via NH-48 and Kunkeshwar-Talewadi Road, via NH-66, and via TamhiniGhat Road and NH-66.

      3. Via Solapur:

There are three routes from Solapur to this beach, and they are via NH-204 and Kunkeshwar-Talewadi Road, via NH-204, and via NH-52.

     4. Via Kolhapur:

There are two routes from Kolhapur to this beach, and they are via Kunkeshwar-Talewadi Road, and via MH SH 180.

  1. By air:

The closest airport to this beach is located in Dabolim. The Goa International Airport Dabolim is well connected to major cities in the country as well as to international destinations.

Climate and the best time visit the Tondavali Beach

The climate at this beach during the summer season which begins in March and ends in May is extremely “hot and humid” with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 38 degree Celsius to a minimum of 28 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in October is extremely “heavy”. On the other hand the winter season which begins in November and ends in February is pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degree Celsius and a minimum of 16 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this beach is from March to February during the winter.

Things/activities to do  

There are few things/activities to do found in and around this beach worth exploring. They are as follows

  1. Dolphin sighting:

From the shores of this beautiful beach a number of dolphins can be seen.

      2. Kalaval Creek:

In close proximity to this beach lies a beautiful creek called Kalaval. In addition, this creek is surrounded by coconut trees that provide it with a look and feel that closely resembles the “backwaters of Kerala”, a major reason why this site is worth visiting.

      3. Temples:

Two temples ShriVagheshwar and ShriDatta Temple are located in close proximity to this beach are worth visiting.

      4. Water sports:

There are a number of water sports such as sailing, water-scooter rides, and banana boat rides that are available around this beach.
