Butterfly Beach, Goa: The hidden beach
Butterfly Beach is a hidden beach, pristine and scenic, located south of Agonda beach and north of Palolem Beach. It is a secluded spot, accessible through a boat ride from the nearby beaches. The beach has a tranquil atmosphere and has golden sand and crystal clear blue sea water. In addition, this beach is surrounded by beautiful green palm trees that only helps add more beauty to it.
You can only get on the beach at low tide since the sea gulfs the beach at high tide. The local ferries and guides know the best time to get to the beach. It is best to carry your stuff like water, food and refreshments since there is none available at this location. No restaurants or beach shacks. It’s almost like your our private beach sojourn.

How to Reach the Butterfly Beach?
Though some people trek to the beach from Agonda which takes almost an hour, the most common access to this hidden beach is by the sea. A ferry from Palolem or Agonda gets you to the place. There are sightseeing ferries plying tourists to the Butterfly beach and a few other spots nearby like the Honeymoon beach.

There is no access to this beach via road since the area is forested. So the best way to get to this beach is to take a boat service from either the Agonda or the Palolem Beach.

The nearest major railway station located to this beach is in Madgaon at a distance of 43 km. The Madgaon Railway Station is well connected to major cities in the country.

The nearest airport to this beach is located at Dabolim. The Goa International Airport is well connected to major national as well as international destinations.
Climate and best time to visit the Butterfly Beach
The best time to visit the beach is in the December to February winter season. In this season the weather is “pleasant” with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 28 degree Celsius to a minimum of 21 degree Celsius. The climate at this picturesque and secluded beach during the summer months which begins in March and ends in June is generally hot with the average of temperature of 35 degree Celsius being recorded. The rainfall received during the monsoon season which begins in June and ends in September is heavy and boat rides are almost none due to the rough sea.

This beach is renowned for the presence of dolphins. Hence this beach makes for an ideal destination for dolphin spotting.

This serene and pristine beach is also popular for the magnificent views of the setting sun, and hence an ideal spot not only for tourists but for avid photographers as well.
